For
Cable in the Classroom, CCI/Crosby has created a multi-dimensional custom
publishing program that reaches out to a targeted group of educators, school
administrators, community leaders and policymakers, parents, and other leaders with an
interest in quality educational opportunities. Cable in the Classroom is the cable
industry's nonprofit education foundation and the organization that represents the
industry's major cable programmers, cable networks, and cable system operators. The
foundation's mission is to help educators and the public harness the power of cable's new
technologies and its rich video and online content to support 21st century learners and
learning. In 2002, after 13 years of distributing one print publication to teachers, the
organization asked CCI/Crosby to develop a publications program that:
- expanded awareness among new audiences without losing their core audience
- improved their credibility with education leaders and policymakers
- reduced their cost dramatically.
Working collaboratively with Cable in
the Classroom, CCI/Crosby developed a suite of
print, online, and email publications to keep cable programming and the cable industry's
leadership visible among key education stakeholders.
- Cable in the Classroom
Magazine is published 11 times annually and provides a guide that families,
educators, and students can use to optimize the learning opportunities in cable-delivered
content and technology.
- Threshold, published four times annually, offers educational leaders the opportunity to
explore key issues and challenges in a unique, single-themed publication format.
- Both publications are also available online, and
Threshold is available in a cutting-edge
digital magazine format.
- Two E-mail newsletters provide educators and parents with information about upcoming
cable programming, online content, and articles that align with core K-12 curriculum.
By maximizing production savings, CCI/Crosby was able to offer the entire suite of
publications at a lower cost than the one publication

Cable in the Classroom continues to support access to quality learning opportunities by
keeping educators informed about the wealth of content delivered to schools and homes
every single day by cable programmers and operators," says publisher Steve Crosby.
"Their custom publishing program has helped to connect educators and the cable industry
and to support and strengthen the foundation's leadership position."
